Finished the first playable version, time to gather some feedback and work on improving the gameplay, controls and general feel
For the future i'd like to make this into a 3D game with good visuals, more interactive environment etc
- Design Challanges and comments during the making of the game
- The game came to me in a dream (somewhat jokingly) - mostly based on the unnamed Flash game I played 10+ years ago, for some reason it had a great impression on me
- Designing the visuals for the map was hard, especially trying to create depth (possibly because my art skills suck :^) ) at the end i decided on using different color ranges for the walls and add a higher contrast outline to make it more visible, it worked out OK at the end, any art-related tips are welcomed!
- Would love to add more visual effects, still learning how to do so in Godot outside of the particles
- Another challenge are the shadows, id love to have some actual live shadows but by default the 2D shadows arent made for topdown, attempted to use some shaders but they didnt workout well enough to keep in-game
- To-Do in for the next updates
- Adding bots, first time doing something like this, i have some plans about how it could be done but it will be a headache for sure
I have other plans for the future of this prototype, but ill try to take it step by step with the little time i have after my daily job and personal life activities
